Asian Wedding Decorations

The unique feature of an Asian wedding is that it is a grand affair and the celebrations last for more than a week. The preparation for the wedding starts months before and the celebrations starts at least a week before the day of marriage. The wedding week is very widely celebrated as most family members gather together and indulge in celebrations. There are different Asian communities and each one of them has their own way of celebrating a marriage. In most cases the wedding celebrations last for many days as there are a variety of rituals and ceremonies that have to be carried during a wedding. Asian wedding decorations are unique since you will not find such decorations in any other parts of the world. In fact it is these decorations that give a glossier look to Asian wedding ceremonies.

• Colors – There are many ways in which we can conduct an Asian wedding ceremony. Some prefer theme based weddings which requires large amount of decorations. In most cases people prefer off beat colors like pink and bright green for theme based weddings. In a traditional Asian wedding, the mostly used colors for decorations are gold and bright red. In the case of westernized Asian weddings, the color mostly preferred for decoration is silver.

• Lighting – The best way of creating an ambience or mood in the reception area is by using appropriate lighting. If you prefer ethnic style, you can use candles and lanterns instead of electric light. This would help us to save energy cost as well as would be a unique way of decoration. If you use dim colored lights with varied intensities, it would be a good option. The only thing that you would have to ensure is that the lighting you choose should match with the colors used for decoration.
• Usage of oversized items – In most Asian weddings, there are symbols used which are used to signify the essence of the wedding. For e.g. in an Indian Hindu wedding you can find enlarged version of a mangal-sutra in the centre of the hall which symbolizes the sanctity of the marriage. These oversized items can be used as the subject of the theme of your wedding. You should place them in such a way, that it is easily visible to any guest who comes into the hall.
• Meals and tables – In most Indian weddings much importance is given to the reception that comes after the wedding ceremony. This is in line with the Indian tradition of treating the guests like God. Asian wedding decorations would also include how you set the tables in the hall and the type of meals served for the guests in the reception.
